As part of the Chinese New Year, the Temple organized several traditional activities. On the 3rd of February, early morning, Shifu Shi Yanjun and the monks started to decorate all temples with the traditional red paper.  Shifu Shi Hengxing wrote the calligraphy papers for more than 20 days in preparation to cover all the temples doors.

In the same time, several female students went to the kitchen to help prepare steam buns and dumplings. The cook taught the girls how to make steam buns with shapes such as pigs, rabbits, fish and many more. The male students helped to prepare the dough. Kung Fu is part of life, therefore every activity is Kung Fu.

On the 4th in the morning, students went for Kung Fu training. They practice how to develop their internal Qi in the lower Dantian. All afternoon students and Shifu Shi Yanjun engaged in cleaning the Temple to welcome the Chinese New Year.

The evening ceremony started at 22:30 and ended at 3:00 am. At midnight, the Venerable Abbot of the Shaolin Temple Yunnan, Grandmaster Shi Yanbei beat the gong to announce the New Year. Every participant in the ceremony had this great honor to claim the stairs of the tower to beat the gong and put 3 wishes.

The following two days, 5th and 6th of February, students helped the monks to keep order in the Temple.

As a particular event, the Temple offered a special purchase price for the new medicated patches prepared inside the Temple. The patches have also been used by our students. They have been developed  800 years ago by the warrior monks to help them during Kung Fu training to release pain and inflammation.

Learning Kung Fu in Shaolin Temple Yunnan is an authentic experience. Apart from learning Kung Fu, our foreign disciples have a very rich and traditional cultural experience.
