SONGSHAN SHAOLIN TRADITIONAL WUSHU ACADEMY AND SHIFU SHI YAN JUN OPEN THE FIRST SOLE REPRESENTATIVE IN ATHENS, GREECE
The purpose of Shifu Shi Yan Jun and Songshan Shaolin Traditional Wushu Academy is to spread Kung Fu and its authentic principles around the world.
On 25th of March, 2014 we decided to open the first official branch of our Academy in Athens, Greece in cooperation with Athletic Club Shaolin Wu Gong.
Shifu Konstantinos Mathiopoulos is our sole representative in Athens, Greece and he is fully recognised by the Greek General Secretariat of Sports and the Hellenic Kung Fu Federation.
The purpose of this cooperation is to make an exchange between China and Greece for the best development of Shaolin Kung Fu and Mei Hua Quan.
Students follow a curriculum established by the Academy in China which contains Traditional forms taught in Shaolin Temple (Shaolin Kung Fu) and Xingtai University (Mei Hua Quan). These forms are organised based on the Duanwei System of the Academy.
Each student receives an ID card and a grading booklet. The ID card states that the student is a member of the Academy which gives the student discounts when travels in China and visit places of interest as well as training in the Academy. The grading booklet contains the forms the student will study. The official grading will be done once a year by Shifu Shi Yan Jun personally when he travels to Greece.
As part of this cooperation Shifu Shi Yan Jun will travel to Greece to keep seminars for several topics such as: Shaolin Kung Fu (basics, forms and applications), Sanda, Mei Hua Quan, Tai Ji Quan, Qigong and Qin Na (grappling system – Self Defence).
One very important step of this cooperation is to teach and spread the culture of Mei Hua Quan which is the ancestor of all the Chinese Martial Arts and is practically unknown in the Western culture. This art was kept secret because the practitioners wanted to preserve 3000 years of culture and practical knowledge. The roots of this art are found in the three doctrines of Taoism, Confucianism and Buddhism. The philosophy and practice contains elements which are missing from all the other Martial Arts. The longevity effect and health benefits of this art you can see it on its practitioners which can still practice until very old age.
